PRAYER OF ST. AUGUSTINE
Of necessity, we must be sorrowful when those we love leave us in death. Although we know that they have not left us behind forever but only gone ahead of us, still when death seizes our loved ones our loving hearts are saddened by death itself. Thus the apostle, Paul does not tell us not to grieve but not to grieve like those who have no hope.
Let us grieve, therefore, over the necessity of losing our loved ones in death, but with the hope of being reunited with them. If we are afflicted we still find consolation. Our weakness weighs us down and faith bears us up. We sorrow over the human condition but find our healing in the divine promise.

BULLETIN BRIEF - Divorce and abortion are, of course, different choices, at times made in difficult and dramatic circumstances. They often give rise to traumas and are a source of profound suffering for the people who make them….They leave wounds that mark life indelibly. The Church has the primary duty to approach [such] people with love and delicacy, with kindness and maternal concern, in order to announce the merciful closeness of God and Jesus Christ… Yes, the gospel of love and of life is also always the gospel of mercy.

- Pope Benedict XVI, Address to the International Congress “Oil on the Wounds”, April 5, 2008

CATHOLIC UNDERGROUND - Tired of the same old, same old? Try something different,. the Catholic Underground, a Roman Catholic Liturgical experience and coffeehouse on Friday, June 13th at St. Gabriel’s Church in Hazleton from 7 - 10 PM. This months musical guest is “Selah Song”, a praise and worship band. Any questions, please call St. Gabriel’s rectory at 454-0212.

CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES - Congratulations to all our College, High School, Middle School and Kindergarten graduates who have already graduated or will be graduating this coming week. May God continue to guide you in all you do. HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY SUMMER!
